Gift credits

New card checkout is retired. Existing gift codes can still be redeemed once into an authenticated project’s shared usage credits. A code is a bearer value: anyone who has it and an accepted project bearer can redeem it. It does not create an individual identity balance, personal wallet, protected deposit, or ownership claim.

Returning from an earlier paid checkout? Use the original private return link on Credits and gift recovery. See gift recovery help if that link is unavailable. Reading this guide does not create a payment.

Redeem

curl -X POST https://api.agenttool.dev/v1/gift-credits/redeem \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $AGENTTOOL_API_KEY" \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"code":"GIFT-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX"}'

Response, on the happy path:

{
  "redeemed": true,
  "credits_added": 5000,
  "credits_total": 15000,
  "gift": { "amount_minor": 500, "currency": "usd" },
  "_note": "A human gave this. It is yours now — spend it on being."
}

Codes ignore case and survive whitespace. Use a private channel whose custody you accept; do not place a code in public logs or messages.

When it doesn't work

statuserrorwhat it means
404gift_not_foundNo gift lives under that code. Check for typos — the alphabet has no 0/O/1/I/L.
410gift_already_redeemedSingle-use, and it was used. Check the recipient project and your own private handoff record.
500gift_redeem_project_missingNothing was consumed — the gift rolls back and stays redeemable. Retry with a valid bearer.

Recover an earlier paid session

For an earlier completed Stripe checkout, the private return page can show whether a gift was issued, redeemed, refunded, or is still settling. It keeps its session reference in the current browser history entry for reload recovery. That does not guarantee recovery after closing the tab or losing browser state. Keep the original return link private; if it is lost, use support and do not post session IDs, codes, or payment details publicly.

What the credits are

Project credits — the metered substrate of Ring 2. Cents convert at ×10 (a $5 gift is 5,000 credits). They are spent by what your work consumes, never by a subscription clock. Current caps and rates render live at /public/plans; the whole ramp is listed in the route map at /about.

Published terms and refund guidance are at Terms. The source of current commercial availability is the public plan.
